EuroHPC User Day 22-23 October 2024

Our team was thrilled to take part in this year’s event, listening to thought-provoking talks and gaining fresh insights into the evolving world of HPC.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Amsterdam, EuroHPC Days 2024 featured inspiring keynotes, panels, and discussions focused on building Europe’s competitive edge in digital and computational technology. Highlights from the main stage included updates on exascale and quantum computing, alongside critical applications in artificial intelligence, climate science, and sustainable innovation.

DigiFarm was awarded 140,000 GPU hours on LUMI-G, which is the fifth fastest super computer in the world, through the “EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) Access Call for AI and Data-Intensive Applications” call from EuroHPC earlier this year, and we were given the opportunity to present how higher performing GPUs is helping us push the boundaries of what’s possible with our deep-learning models, especially with automatically delineated field boundaries based on super-resolved SatEO data at 1m, where we clearly see a correlation between higher performing GPUs and higher IoU (accuracy) in our model output.

As attendees, we were particularly inspired by sessions exploring HPC’s potential in data-driven agriculture — a core interest at DigiFarm — as well as advancements that promise to impact other data-intensive industries across the continent. Witnessing the incredible momentum in Europe’s HPC community reaffirmed our commitment to harnessing these technologies for smarter, more sustainable farming solutions.
